Autism, Inc.: The Autism Industrial Complex

Abstract We contend that, within capitalism, the Autism Industrial Complex ( aic ) produces both autism as commodity and normative cultural logic of intervention in relation to it. Comprised ideological/rhetorical well material/economic infrastructure, we argue that is not myriad businesses industries capitalize profit from it; rather, these constitute its epiphenomenal features. In production commodity, also simultaneously commodity’s market, consumers, own monopoly control market through for consumption need for, consent , legitimacy interventionist logics. Within this apparatus, almost anyone can on autism. And autistic people—their very bodies—function raw materials which industrial complex built, even identities selves—also become unwitting, often unwilling, products .
